"I felt like a ghost writer for the Holy Spirit."

Awakened by God at 2 a.m, Casey McCulley experienced a profound moment.  During the early morning hours of 2020, amid the COVID era, McCulley heard two short, two-word phrases from God.  He got out of bed and told his wife the phrases, saying, “Remember these words.”  Then, he went back to bed.

The Writing Journey

The next morning, he sat at his computer and began to write—day and night. The Holy Spirit dictated, and the story gushed out of McCulley’s innermost being. After two years of writing and almost two years of editing, he finally published TIMES.

Interestingly, neither McCulley nor his wife, Cecily has ever been able to recall the two-word phrases God gave that early morning.  When Casey recounts the experience, he chuckles: “I felt like a ghost writer for the Holy Ghost!”

About TIMES

TIMES tells the story of a young Jewish Sofer student caught up in frenzy and intrigue during the very beginning of Christianity. The protagonist travels through ancient Israel and ancient Turkey amid the throes of warfare prior to the destruction of Jerusalem by Rome. It was the end of times and the beginning of times. A burst of light exploded in Ori’s face, then another, and another, followed so closely by a resounding reverberation that the youngster was blinded, then deafened as he was pummeled into the street.

5-Star Reviews for TIMES (Excerpted)

TIMES provides a stirring account of the lives of both biblical and fictional characters who lived in those early days of Christianity.   The book describes the dramatic challenges they faced. . . Readers will see, in an exciting way, how these characters expressed their faith in action, as they struggled between the ‘old’ and the ‘new’.  The story is woven around a touching tale of romantic love between Ori and Adiela and gives new “eyes” to the experiences of those living through these times.”– D. Guerra

“. . . an exciting story of a young couple who interact with the Apostles in the book of Acts. A young Jewish scribe comes to faith in Christ.  He becomes a dynamic messenger of the gospel. He and his family face persecution and danger.  This book would make a great script for a movie.”- Allan Walker, Ph.D.
